Education Specialist (Secondary Math 9-12)

Mission: Education Service Center Region 15 is dedicated to excellence in education through leadership, partnership, and service.

Primary Purpose: This position reports to the Associate Director and is responsible for providing professional development, support, and resources to secondary mathematics teachers (grades 9–12). The role involves leading and guiding Local Education Agencies (LEAs) within Region 15 in implementing research-based best practices in secondary math instruction. The ultimate goal is to enhance student achievement in mathematics by equipping teachers with the knowledge, strategies, and tools necessary to be effective in the classroom. The position also supports a high-performance culture that values excellence, quality, productivity, and adherence to rigorous academic standards.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Serve as a dedicated resource for enhancing the quality of mathematics instruction in secondary schools across Region 15.
Provide comprehensive training and ongoing support for the effective implementation and utilization of the TEKS Resource System.
Represent Region 15 at TEKS Resource System Leadership Team meetings, contributing to statewide collaboration and planning.
Maintain and regularly update the ESC web page to improve communication and provide relevant resources and information related to the TEKS Resource System.
Deliver training and guidance on the TExGUIDEs to ensure successful integration and classroom application.
Support the implementation of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), including readiness and supporting standards for STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) assessments.
Provide instructional and technical support to teachers, students, and families throughout Region 15.
Offer assistance in technology integration and data analysis to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
Design, develop, and facilitate targeted professional development sessions for Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and campuses, with a focus on curriculum alignment and instructional best practices.
Provide specialized professional development for secondary mathematics educators, emphasizing pedagogy, content knowledge, and student engagement.
Offer individual coaching and mentoring to build educator capacity, promote reflective practice, and deepen instructional impact.
Support the integration of graphing technology in mathematics classrooms to enhance student understanding and application of concepts.
Provide mentorship and support for new secondary mathematics teachers within Region 15 to promote retention and instructional effectiveness.
Actively participate in ESC meetings, coordinate regional services, and contribute to long-range strategic planning.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Teaching and Learning and/or the Executive Director.

Experience:
Three (3) years classroom teaching experience
