Early Head Start Substitute Teacher



Location: Early Head Start - Brownwood, TX
Reports To: EHS Center Director
FLSA: Hourly
Pay Rate: $100 (Full-Day)/ $50 (Half-Day)

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Substitute for EHS CDA Teachers/Assistants when needed.
  • Follow and implement a daily schedule tailored to the children’s age group.
  • Build respectful partnerships with families to support child success and well-being.
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, and ensure safety during activities.
  • Engage with children using positive guidance and modeling correct behavior, speech, and respect.
  • Follow safety regulations and maintain confidentiality of child/family information.
  • Ensure a safe environment, assist with meals, and help children clean up.
  • Monitor approved persons for child pick-up and clean materials.
  • Cooperate with supervisor on policies and working hours.
  • Support ESC goals and safety policies, maintain confidentiality, and meet proficiency in technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the director or other leadership.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
CPR and First Aid Certification required.
Knowledge of infant and toddler development, including safety issues.
Valid Texas driver’s license or reliable transportation during work hours.
Proof of current automobile liability insurance.
Ability to follow instructions and uphold Early Head Start care standards.
Service-oriented attitude required.
Personal responsibility, positive outlook, and ability to relate to diverse populations.
Ability to multitask, work independently, organize efficiently, and communicate effectively with staff and directors.
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organizational, and time management skills.
Physically able to engage in moderate to high physical activities (e.g., standing, lifting, bending, etc.).
Tolerant of cleaning and sanitizing products

Experience
Minimum of one year experience working with infants, toddlers, and/or young children birth through 5 years of age (preferred)




High School Diploma
CPR Certification
First-Aid Certificate
Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) or AA in Early Childhood Education
