Education Specialist (Post-Secondary Career and Education/Integration)

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Post-Secondary Career and Education Duties and Expectations:
Collaborate with our ESC 15 Post-Secondary Specialist for students with lower incidence disabilities
Collaborate and work with ESC 15 Career and Technical Education Specialist to increase career, college military and education outcomes for students with disabilities
Serve as ESC 15 contact for our LEA Post-Secondary and Employment Designees (TEDS) including training and support with post-secondary assessments Turnaround TEA required trainings and coaching to appropriate LEA staff
Provide training of post-secondary goals
Identify and share resources
Develop strategies for collaboration and communication with agencies that support post-secondary supports and services to students with disabilities
Attend professional meetings, seminars and other training sessions to be informed of federal and state accountability requirements, current innovations and research about post-secondary programs and opportunities serving students
Integration Duties and Expectations:
Collaborate and work with our Strategic Integration Liaisons and Special Education Liaisons to help increase outcomes for students with disabilities in integrated settings as measured by data as well as federal and state accountability measures
Serve as the TEA initiative lead for ESC 15
Collaborate and provide professional development, technical assistance, coaching and consultation independently and alongside ESC 15 content specific specialists to LEA staff
Possess current knowledge of teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as, differentiation of instruction necessary to create effective and productive student-centered learning environments
Provide collaboration and professional development to general and special education teachers on federal and state mandates regrading curriculum
Demonstrate a growth mindset in working with and building strong relationships with teachers
Support integrated education for students served in Special Education
Collaborate with general education and special education teachers on planning and preparing standards-aligned lessons through observation/feedback, modeling, co-teaching, coaching and professional learning
Attend professional meetings, seminars and other training sessions to be informed of federal and state accountability requirements, current innovations and research about integrated practices for students with disabilities
Ability to consider academic, social and emotional behavioral needs of student in making decisions about academic settings and accommodations for individual students
Ability to aggregate/analyze student outcome data gain and communicate insights to teachers
Ability to work effectively in collaborative teams and lead and direct PLCs
Knowledge about outside agency support and resources for students with disabilities and their families
Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Program Director and Executive Director
Applicant must possess the ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Travel to school districts, professional meetings, trainings and conferences as required. Support total ESC Region 15 operation through cooperation with other center staff and components.
