Education Specialist (Elementary Mathematics)

Position Summary:
The Education Specialist for K–5 Elementary Mathematics provides leadership, professional learning, instructional coaching, and technical assistance to elementary educators and school districts. The specialist supports teachers, campus leaders, and instructional teams in implementing high-quality mathematics instruction aligned with state standards and evidence-based practice.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional development and ongoing support to K–5 teachers in mathematics content, pedagogy, and instructional practices.
  • Design and facilitate engaging professional learning sessions focused on elementary mathematics concepts, problem solving, mathematical reasoning, and student discourse.
  • Coach teachers and instructional leaders through classroom observations, modeling, co-teaching, lesson planning, and feedback cycles.
  • Support districts in implementing state mathematics standards and developing coherent, standards-aligned mathematics curricula.
  • Assist educators in using assessment data to identify student needs, monitor progress, and plan targeted instruction.
  • Develop and provide instructional resources, exemplars, lesson materials, and professional learning tools for elementary mathematics.
  • Support campuses in implementing effective intervention and enrichment practices for mathematics learners.
  • Collaborate with district administrators, curriculum directors, instructional coaches, and teachers to identify instructional needs and develop responsive support.
  • Stay current with research and best practices in elementary mathematics education and translate that research into practical classroom applications.
  • Participate in regional, state, and professional mathematics education initiatives.
  • Provide technical assistance related to mathematics curriculum, assessment, instructional materials, and instructional technology.
  • Build collaborative relationships with school districts and educational partners across the ESC region.
Experience:
Three (3) years classroom teaching experience
