Position Purpose:
The Education Specialist (Speech-Language Pathologist) reports to the Special Education Program Director and provides leadership, guidance, professional development, and technical assistance to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) throughout ESC Region 15. This position is responsible for promoting and supporting the implementation of research-based best practices in speech-language pathology and related special education services while fostering a high-performance culture that emphasizes excellence, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement. The Education Specialist collaborates with educators, administrators, and regional staff to strengthen instructional practices, ensure compliance with state and federal requirements, and improve outcomes for children and students with disabilities.Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, deliver, facilitate, and model high-quality professional development and technical assistance for Speech-Language Pathologists serving children and students ages 3–21.
- Provide training and technical assistance related to Education Service Center Network initiatives and requirements.
- Coordinate the TETN/TWU Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Program for ESC Region 15.
- Support the implementation of Assistive Technology through targeted training, consultation, and technical assistance for educators and specialists.
- Deliver professional learning on the Early Childhood Outcomes Summary (COS) Process and the COS Form (COSF), including documentation of children's functioning for State Performance Plan (SPP) Indicator #7.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance regarding Child Find, evaluation procedures, and Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) processes related to speech-language pathology services.
- Collaborate with school districts and regional stakeholders to support effective implementation of evidence-based practices and compliance with state and federal special education requirements.
- Serve on ESC Region 15 committees and work collaboratively with internal departments to support regional initiatives and services.
- Stay current with research, legislation, and best practices in speech-language pathology and special education through ongoing professional learning.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Program Director or Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of successful experience as a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Knowledge of federal and state special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide consultation, coaching, and professional learning to adult learners.
- Valid Texas driver's license and ability to travel throughout the ESC Region 15 service area.
- Experience providing professional development or coaching for educators.
- Knowledge of Assistive Technology, Early Childhood Outcomes (COS/COSF), Child Find, evaluation procedures, and ARD processes.
- Experience coordinating regional or district-level special education initiatives.
