Data Services Coordinator
Location: Education Service Center Region 15 - San Angelo, Tx

Position Summary:
The Data Services Coordinator reports directly to the Deputy Director and provides high-quality leadership, training, technical assistance. and support to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) throughout ESC Region 15 utilizing the Texas Enterprise Information System (ASCENDER). This position coordinates district data collection, validation, reporting, and compliance activities related to the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS), Texas Student Data System (TSDS), Texas Education Data Standards (TEDS), and related state reporting systems. The Coordinator serves as a regional resource for LEAs by providing expertise in student information systems. financial applications, state reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance while ensuring districts receive timely support, training, and guidance.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
PEIMS, TSDS, and State Reporting
Serve as the regional coordinator for PEIMS and related state reporting functions.
Coordinate the collection. validation, correction, and submission of district data to meet TEA reporting requirements and deadlines.
Serve as TCC Manager for Region 15.
Serve as Exchange Ambassador for Region 15.
Provide guidance and support to districts to ensure accurate, complete, and timely submissions.
Maintain current knowledge of state reporting requirements and communicate updates to LEAs.
ASCENDER Software Support
Serve as a primary resource for ASCENDER Student and Financial applications.
Coordinate implementation, testing, and deployment of software updates and releases.
Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support for software-related issues.
Work with programming staff and vendors to address system enhancements and problem resolution.
TREx and Related Systems Support
Coordinate support for TREx, TEAL, Unique ID, TEDS, TSDS, and other TEA systems.
Assist districts with data transfers, system access, reporting requirements, and compliance processes.
Fiscal and Regulatory Compliance
Support districts in understanding and implementing financial and reporting requirements related to GAAP. FASRG. EDGAR, and other applicable regulations.
Assist in monitoring compliance with reporting timelines and regulatory requirements.
Support fiscal accountability and efficient use of resources through accurate reporting and data management practices.
Professional Responsibilities
Supervise Data Services Staff
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Foster positive relationships with LEAs, ESC staff, and stakeholders through exceptional customer service.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director and/or Executive Director.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, Accounting, Education, or Related Field (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Extensive knowledge of PEIMS, TSDS, TEDS, ASCENDER Student and Financial applications, TREx, Texas Exchange and related TEA systems.
Knowledge of GAAP, FASRG, EDGAR, Student Attendance Accounting requirements, and Texas public school reporting processes.
Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to provide effective training and technical assistance to diverse audiences.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
Experience:
Five (5) years school district work experience or acceptable work experience
