School Health/Safety Security Specialist

Position Purpose:
This position reports to the Deputy Director and is responsible for delivering fentanyl contamination training to school districts and charter schools, as required under Rider 85 of the General Appropriations Act and aligned with the mission of Regional Education Service Centers as established in TEC ยง8.002.The Health/Safety Specialist serves as a subject matter expert in school health and safety, supporting districts and charter schools in implementing effective practices related to emergency preparedness, hazard prevention, and regulatory compliance. This role assists with the evaluation of health and safety programs, analyzes data to identify trends and risks, and develops targeted strategies for continuous improvement. The specialist provides technical assistance, coordinates training initiatives, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to promote safe and healthy learning environments. This position fosters a high-performance culture that emphasizes excellence, quality, productivity, and adherence to established standards.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include coordinating and conducting workshops and trainings on school health services, such as state-mandated screenings (Vision, Hearing, Spinal, and Acanthosis Nigricans), Unlicensed Diabetes Care Assistant (UDCA) training, medication administration for non-nurse staff, student immunization record compliance, First Aid, CPR, AED certification, and Stop the Bleed. The specialist also compiles, maintains, and secures required reports and documentation in accordance with confidentiality standards. This position emphasizes high-quality customer service, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, and supporting a high-performance culture focused on excellence, quality, productivity, and adherence to established standards. The Health/Safety Specialist performs additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Director and/or Executive Director.
